What are your 3 favorite bars in The Quarter

If you could recommend only 3 places to have a drink, which 3 would you pick?

That's a tough one, as I think depending on your mood, that list could vary. But historically, we have always had a good time at:

Lafitte's Blacksmith - anytime

One-eyed Jack's - night when a cool band is playing in the front room

Pirate's Alley - afternoon lounging

Excluding musical entertainment considerations (you said "Quarter" and "to have a drink" [did not mention other intentions]), Carousel Bar (upscale), the two story Tropical Isle (mid scale) and Chart Room (basic). Honorable mention would go to The Boondock Saint (basic), Laffite's Blacksmith Shop (based on atmosphere and not the drinks [although I love me some VooDoo]), and Harry's Corner (basic neighborhood). I'm keeping in mind that Faubourg Marigny, Central Business District and Warehouse/Arts District are not in the hunt.

"In The Quarter" eliminates Bar Uncommon, The Swizzle Stick and The Sazerac Bar at the Roosevelt, so, in no particular order, Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop, The Carousel Bar and Napoleon House. Close runners-up include MRB (Bloody Marys), Molly's at the Market, (Bloody Marys and draft beers), Johnny White's (because) and Tujaques (Sazerac).

My soon-to-be favorite bars that I have not yet had a drink, Arnaud's French 75 Bar, May Baily's, and The Bombay Club.

OK, let me see if I can shock anyone;

#1 fav bar is The Funky Pirate, while I almost always drink beer there, (and the occasional Bloody Mary), Love the staff. Bartender Dave is one of my favorite people.

#2 Lafitte's for the cool atmosphere, also they make decent Bloody Marys, (always a plus)

#3 Muriel's, (this is a new fav since we were there last week). Gorgeous, kind of darkish and very cool. Yummy drinks

I'll add MRB as an honorable mention. Another great place for a meet-up.

HA! I'm anxious to see how many pages of answers this questions gets.

You know, if we're talking just booze, and not taking music into consideration, I don't think I have to many favorites yet! I must go to NO even more often now to get a fav's list. My next "to do" list for my trip in October does have a bunch of just regular bars I want to check out. Maybe I'll be better able to answer this question after October.

As for now, I would have to say:

- Pat O's for hurricanes

- Napoleans's for Pimm's Cup

- And I have to say Marguaritaville if I'm in the mood for a marguarita. I love their slushy 'rita's!!

But if I want just a drink drink, I think I would have to say just having something in a go cup and walking around the Quarter. Although, I did enjoy very much my one time at the Chartroom (but it may have been the company too as I was there with Loopwhole, JLR, and respective better half's ). :-)
