yawn. I don't see why people like this place. If I want to gamble, I go to Las Vegas. There are so many better things to do in NO than camp out in a casino.

I wonder if the Hard Rock Cafe is open too ? (note very sarcastic tone)

I'm with you on the gambling, Michigander, but I'm glad Harrah's is reopening. Besh Steakhouse is a good restaurant and I appreciate the extra entertainment options even though I don't take advantage. I think Harrah's does bring tourists to "try" N.O. who may normally prefer Vegas so that's a plus, too.

I find the casino to be an extra diversion, especially in the afternoon when I'm waiting for the quarter to warm up for the evening. Having a casino so close to the quarter gives people the chance to satify all their 'desires'. It may not be for everyone, but it helps NOLA to cover all the bases. And Harrahs total reward cards help to get comps for use in Vegas.

I went to Harrah's about 2 years ago to try the buffet and I was pleasantly surprised. What I enjoyed was all the different foods of New Orleans in one sitting.

Well, I certainly don't like spending my whole trip in a casino, but after a great dinner (Commander's Palace, Emeril's) on my last two trips, I spent the evening playing blackjack and won enough to pay for half of each trip. I'd that was worthwhile.
