Public transportation from MSY to French Quarter

Is there a good way to take public transportation from Loius Armstrong airport to the French Quarter for two adults each with a small suitcase? I would prefer to do this then take a cab.

Search the forum. There is a public bus but it's not really convenient, at least not by NY standards. In short, yes it's possible but most people (including me) will advise you to splurge on the cab.

There are no trains from the airport into the city.

There is also a shuttle service, but that would take longer than a cab cause the shuttle will stop at whatever hotels it needs too depending on where it's passengers are staying.

I agree, splurge on the cab and be in the FQ withing 20, 25mins. It's a flat rate of 32, 33$, so you don't have to worry about getting caught in traffic or something and the meter keeps running.

If you have light baggage, are traveling during the day and during the week, and are familar with NOLA, the bus is an option.

See:

Jefferson Transit: The Airport-Downtown Express (E-2) Bus picks up outside airport Entrance #7 on the upper level.

Bus Fare: The fare for Airport-Downtown Express (E-2) is $1.10. The fare boxes will accept $1, $5, $10, $20 dollar bills and all U.S. coins. The fare boxes will provide change in the form of a value card that can be used for future fares.

About the Airport-Downtown Express (E-2) Route: The Airport-Downtown Express (E-2) provides service from the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport in Kenner, down Airline Drive into New Orleans. The Airport bus stop is on the second level of the Airport, near the Delta counter, in the median (look for the sign and bench). At Carrollton at Tulane it connects with RTA's 27-Louisiana and 39-Tulane buses. (Visit the RTA website to check their current schedules.)

For more information on public transit in the area, visit the Jefferson Transit website, www.jeffersontransit.org, or the RTA website www.norta.com.
