Lunch spots

I had planned on lunch, my first day in NO, at the Napoleon House. Unfortunantly, they are closed for lunch on Thurs. Not particular about what type of food, just want something that really represents NOLA. I would appreciate your ideas. PW

Hey paulie, I thought you decided on POC for lunch on Thurs. Having second thoughts?

How about your venturing outside the Quarter for a visit to a real New Orleans neighborhood restaurant? The Canal St. streetcar (about a 15 minute ride) passes right in front of the restaurant.

We're gonna do that later in the trip. We have another couple joining us Friday. They want to go to POC,Coops, Petunias (for Sun B'fast) and Acme.

This is what we've got planned in the way of eats:

Thurs lunch?

Dinner? Deanie's maybe?

Friday B'fast: Cafe Dumonde (of course)

Lunch POC

Dinner Coops

Sat B'fast.....no promises, after Fri night

lunch ? whereever we land

Dinner ACME

Keeping it casual this trip. Thought about dressin up for K Pauls but I don't know. So many choices. When I think I have my mind made up, I read a review that changes my mind. HELP please!

Don't forget about Napoleon House. Maybe Saturday lunch?

Our last couple of breakfasts at Petunia's were disappointing. Got there at opening time, so no waiting in line, but service was extremely slow & food was mediocre & portions too large.

Coops for dinner? I love the food there, but it's always seemed to me to be much more of a lunch place than a dinner place.

Here are two more suggestions (outside the Quarter) for a casual Friday dinner.

I, too, would go Coop's for lunch rather than dinner.

Other suggestions off the top of my head:

Really casual dinner: EAT restaurant, Meauxbar, La. Pizza Kitchen

Nicer but still "casual-dress friendly": Muriel's, Marigny Brasserie and even K-Pauls

CajunWave, has the Marigny Brasserie returned to its former quality? We haven't eaten there since the storm, but a few of our friends have, and they were't impressed. However, it's been almost a year since their last visit.

We'll be in the Marigny next weekend, and that's one of the places we'd like to consider for dinner.

I goofed! I will be at Napoleon House Fri for lunch. There are so many places to choose from for meals.

The nightlife is a breeze! My sis-in-law wants to go to the Famous Door,Cat's Meow,Pat O's,Absinthe House. Plus you can wander in and out of bars with out commitment. Seems like more of a job searching for restaurants. I just want to get a baseline idea and then ask around when I get there. We will be there Thurs-Sun and I'm trying to make some good choices.

As far as activities, I want to ride the carriage (again) and take the haunted history tour. My hubby want to play blackjack at Harrah's, but I don't want to camp out there.

I'm still juggling all of the good comments you all have given me.Thanks.

Another nice place for dinner is Cafe Amelie on Royal. Delicious food & a gorgeous FQ patio.

Rod, I've not noticed a big "drop off" in food quality at Marigny Brasserie but I have had less-than-great service on a couple of occasions. Other times, it's fine! I take clients to lunch there every other week or so and it's pretty consistently good.
