Departures

We've booked to stay on kuramathi in December 2017. We already know we have a late evening flight back home via Dubai. Just wondering if anyone has any experience of having a late flight and what time you had to leave your accommodation and what time the speedboat leaves. Also the facilities at the airport, are there any lounges we can book into and maybe take a shower. Hope someone can share their experiences and give any advice. Thank you

1. Re: Departures

As far as I am aware, there is only one speedboat departure a day from Kuramathi, and that is very early in the morning (around 6.30am). If you have a late night departure then you will probably want to change to a seaplane transfer which will leave later in the day and give you more time at the resort and less time at the airport.

It's probably best to check with your agent or Kuramathi directly to confirm what time your seaplane departure will be.

Definitely upgrade to a seaplane departure otherwise it will be a very long, hot, uncomfortable day. As the initial price for a Kuramathi speedboat transfer is quite high ( because it is such a long transfer) and as the seaplane flight is relatively short, the upgrade cost won't be too high. Normally the resort and the seaplane company will do their best to co ordinate the seaplane transfer to leave resort as late as possible so think mid to late afternoon (instead of 6.30 am for the boat) . There are at least 3 lounges. The moonimaa lounge is at the domestic terminal , 50m from the main terminal, the wellness lounge at the main terminal ( before departures) and a terminal after departures check in. There are showers at the first 2. Something like $35 pp for 2 hours then you can pay for extra hours - maybe $10 per hour.

Thanks for that information, leaving at 6.30 sounds awful but at least I know now and yes I'll check out changing to a seaplane.
