December vs January

Can anyone advise as to whether December or January would be a better time to visit for a 2-week honeymoon? We can do either the weeks leading up to Christmas or right after the new year. Thank you in advance!

The periods you are talking about are peak season which runs from about the 15th Dec to the 10 January, so it will be busy and may be more expensive, depending on what sort of accommodation you book.

There would be significant savings to be had if you could travel outside these dates, but this may not be possible.

As far as everything else goes, it will be the same as it is wet season.

What does "wet season" mean, practically, in Amed? I've been in Bali several times over this period, and it's meant a mix of sun and showers and not particularly clean beaches (they always tell me, "oh it's the currents during the wet season - come later in the year and it's much better). Just curious if the weather/ocean is different from Nusa Dua/Seminyak/etc.

Amed is a much drier region that most of Bali, often their wet season doesn't start until later. Last year they didn't get any rain to really speak of until the end of December and even in January a quick storm in the afternoon was all we had.

Kuta and the beaches on the west coast do suffer from a lot of rubbish being dumped by the currents during the wet season, and in Lovina in the north they suffer in September.
