Hi Beats21,

Kerala by nature is a long beach and stay like a line along Indian Ocean. In that sense, it's approximately a 600 kms beach. However, few places like Kovalam has gained a reputation as a major beach destination due to the kind of infrastructure it has built over the years to support the visitors. Kovalam also enjoys the proximity to Kanyakumari and Trivandrum - both well known for their traditions and distinct tourist offerings. It is like a vicious cycle of more tourists - more investments - more infrastructure - further more tourists..

Marari beach - a beach close to Alleppey is one of the beaches that has gained much popularity in the recent days for its pleasant calm nature. Cochin is a typcial commercial hub and hence robs all the eyeballs on that front and less on a beach offering. Otherwise, Cherai and FortCochin are decently placed beaches.

Up north, beaches like Kappad are again not too famous because of distance factor (almost 8 hours) from the central and south located regions.

Having said that, if you're looking for a 'wholesome' beach experience, we feel you shouldnt exclude Kovalam from you priority list.

Regards,
