4th of July and Cabin Questions

Thank you all for your help on a previous post. We decided to rent Cody's View cabin through Hemlock Hills resort. I'm still not sure where the cabin is as it's not at the resort. I think it's closer to pigeon forge.

That being said, do both Gatlinburg and Pigeon forge have fourth of july celebrations? Where can I learn more about them? Is one better than the other? Is there a way to avoid heavy traffic. I have small children with me so let that guide your advice please. (like if you think one fireworks is a lot later than the other).

I coudln't find a previous post about this, but if there was just point me in the right direction.

That cabin is near Dollywood according to their site - which is located east of the PF Parkway off of traffic light 8. Maybe somewhere off of Upper Middle Creek Road. Here is a TA post about this: tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g60842-i150-k29098… If you decide on Gatlinburg, people start lining their chairs up along the parade route early in the day. A midnight parade may not be what you are looking for with very young children.

Yes pigeon forge & gatlinburg both have july 4th celebrations. I used to always plan my trips around this holiday since I loved their celebrations so much!

Pigeon Forge will have the FREE Patriot Festival in Patriot Park the day of July 4th. They have food & a free concert at night followed by fireworks. Games and activities for the kids start at noon. Onstage entertainment begins at 1:30pm with Hotel California (Eagles Tribute Band). This year the evening concert entertainers are Larry Gatlin & the Gatlin Brothers.

Gatlinburg has their MIDNIGHT parade which is at MIDNIGHT on July 3rd...running into the 4th. They do one neat thing.....they toss coins into the street just prior to the parade & all the kids collect them! It is something I have never seen before going to this parade. On July 4th they have their River Raft Regatta downtown on the river. Your kids can enter this contest & it is free to enter! Then at night they usually have some small groups of dancers on the parkway in downtown gatlinburg & also a band usually performs in front of Ripleys Aquarium. Then fireworks follow at dark.

I have been to the Patriot Festival during the daytime, but I have never stayed for the concert or fireworks. I usually head back to Gatlinburg for the fireworks. Parking at the Patriot Festival is nightmarish. I would consider taking the Teaster Lane shuttle they are offering for free. I always go to the midnight parade to kick off the whole holiday! Hope this helps.
