Places/tracks for running

My husband and I will be there in two weeks and we both enjoy running a few miles each day. We are staying at a cabin on Vista Lane called 'In The Mood'. Can anyone tell me if it would be possible to run on Vista Drive and if not, is there a track of some sort nearby that we could drive to each day to do our running?

You can go to the Gatlinburg-Pittman

Center High

School on hwy 321 and use their track. It is next to the Community Center where they have a pool and indoor exercise faciities.

I'm not sure of the location of that road, but do know that many of the roads are not runnable as they are sometimes narrow, steep, and can have switchbacks, and therefore drivers will not be looking for runners. If you stay in Gatlinburg, running in town would be good if you ran early morning before all the pedestrians got out and about. There is a nice flat wooded trail (if trail running is ok for you) at the edge of town that will take you up to the Sugarlands Welcome center and back. It should be about 2 miles or so. There is a paved 1/2 mile trail called Sugarlands Valley Trail just inside the Park...there usually is not many people on this trail, so although you'd have to loop around a few times, it would be a nice, safe run for you.

We run in the National Park in Greenbrier off of Highway 321. Many people walk and run this road early in the morning and it is beside the water. Beautiful place to run in morning. Later in the day this road gets busy with cars.

Also, we run the Little River Trail at Elkmont. This is a flat trail which is excellent to run on anytime during the day. No cars on this trail. Trail also runs along a river and very secluded except for walkers/hikers.

You can also park at the trolley station on E. Parkway and run the sidewalks along the Parkway.
