North Shore Family Vacation

Looking for suggestions on which city to stay in along the North Shore with my husband and two daughters, 12 and 10. We'd like to avoid a hotel and stay in a cabin at a resort. We camp in our camper quite a bit, so want to try something a little different. We have never been to the North Shore, so want to relax, take in the scenery, and "play tourist".

Lots of places to suggest. What is your budget? Do you want to be close to town or a bit away? When you say North Shore, do you want to be on Lake Superior, or is an inland lake ok?

Try this link, let us know some specifics so we can help narrow it down for you.

Also, when are you planning to take this trip?

StrangeTripper, some things haven't changed much in the past 20 yrs. Restaurants have, but the town still looks the same. (can't remember when the Standard station closed up and became a park, think that was less then 20 yrs ago.)

There is now a zipline up the Gunflint Trail by Gunflint Lake, if you're interested.

Hey ChelseaP

Vote would go out to the Lutsen area- plenty to do around the ski resort : http://lutsenresort.com/activities/#tabs-4 - and you could also visit Gooseberry Falls, check out the Oberg Loop hike near Tofte, Grand Marais etc... we usually go for condos in the area to save some $$$ on food...have fun...

Not sure if they have openings, but cobblestone cabins is pretty fantastic, right on the lake, near stuff, good people.
