Question about Antelope Slot Canyon Boat Tour vs rafting

My husband and I are scheduled to do the raft/hummer trip mid July. Does the Antelope Slot Canyon boat tour take a different route or would we see the same things? There are two boat tours available - 11/2 hour for $45 or 21/2 hour for $70 - which one would be the best and would the last tour of the day be a good choice? We would be arriving early afternoon and was looking for something to do that afternoon or evening. Thanks for any information.

Antelope Canyon from the water is a completely different place than Upper or Lower Antelope Canyons on land.

The boat tours are on the lake. The raft trip is down the Colorado River below the dam. So yes, they go different places. The Hummer tour goes to a different slot canyon (on land) than Antelope. As RedRox indicates, realize that seeing Antelope Slot Canyon from the lake is different than seeing the other sections of it on land. Lakeside is not as dramatic. That being said, a boat tour on the lake is still nice. The shorter boat tour goes by the dam and then into Antelope Canyon a ways. The longer boat tour includes that plus going into another canyon called Navajo Canyon just a bit farther uplake.

If you don't do the boat tour on your first afternoon, maybe go visit the Dam visitors center and take a tour of the dam. If you like to hike, go on the Hanging Garden hike. It's close to the dam. Also go to Wahweap Overlook for sunset.

Thank you so much for the quick response - yes I knew the land tour was different and we will be doing that - I had concern that the boat tour and raft tour might go to the same area and if the shorter boat tour would be a nice way to see the lake and some of the canyons by water. The 21/2 tour seemed a little long. Thank you for the suggestion of Wahweap Overlook. It is so nice to have access to people that are familiar with the area.

Thank you again for your helpful advice.

Yes, the boattour in addition to the landtour is great. It says 1.5 hours but they took us for 2 hours on that trip and we really enjoy sailing into the canyon. We have not done the 2.5 tour though but only the so called 1.5 tour. We did this tour by 2 pm but that was in october. Suggest to take a later tour in july.

You'll be suprised by that boat. It looks dull but it turns into a jetboat on the open water!
