Staying in Brooklyn to wind down after a week in Manhattan

Hi, we are landing in August, spending 5 days in Manhattan/East Village, and then have 3 days before we catch a train to DC.

Looking for a a good hotel/B&B in Brooklyn to enjoy the Brooklyn life?

It will be a weekend, as we catch the train on Sunday Penn station. So maybe some good homestyle food at a casual restaurant, then end up at a bar,(with a band playing) one night. Then a lazy day seeing the sights.

Thanks in advance

There are several good B&B's in Midwood Park listed on Tripadvisor. For homestyle food, you can try Tbilisi restaurant on Kings Highway (Georgian cuisine).

I'd try the Nu Hotel on Smith street. its very close to some cool neighborhoods. lots of bars and restaurants. no offense to the previous poster but Midwood is where my grandparents live. not exactly a happening neighborhood.

Nu Hotel is a great location. You are right near Smith St.....Court Street...Brooklyn Heights, etc. The Jay Street subway is a few blocks away as is the Borough Hall stop.

You can walk around Bk Heights/check out the Brooklyn Promenade/walk over the Brooklyn Bridge/etc.

Nothing wrong with Midwood as a 'hood. But as stated above, nothing at all happening there...and not a hop/skip and a jump to any other parts of Bklyn....
