We are visiting New York later this month for the 1st time with our 16 and 9 yr old kids. Whilst we are staying in Manhattan we do want to spend some time in Brooklyn.
Our 9 yr old loves Halloween and as we will be in the US on 31st October it makes sense to try to be part of the celebrations. I've read that the Park Slope Halloween Parade is one of the biggest in the country and more family oriented than the Greenwich Village Parade.
Can anyone offer advise about the best times to get to the parade area? Would we be ok as spectators or could we actually join in with the parade as non locals? Our daughter loves trick or treating so where is the best area to go for this? Again would this be frowned upon as non locals?
We really like the idea of taking part in something along with local people but don't want to offend anyone as obvious tourists to the area.
Thanks in advance for any responses.
