Where to stroll & eat lunch in DUMBO, after walking bridge

We are spending a weekday walking the Brooklyn Bridge, and checking out DUMBO. What are best streets to stroll and shop, and find lunch? We will probably park in Brooklyn unless it is better to park in Manhattan (we are driving in from NJ). Input? Many thanks!!!

Grimaldi's is one of the famous pizza places (often a line):

If you're up for a splurge, River Cafe: http://www.rivercafe.com/

Unfortunately for you, three of the better restaurants in the area -- Vinegar Hill House, Governor, and Gran Electrica -- aren't open for lunch.

Dumbo is very small, so you can easily walk all of its streets in an afternoon. Here's a map showing stores and galleries:

Be sure to stop at Washington and Water to see the famous view of the Empire State Building through the legs of the Manhattan Bridge. And take a ride on Jane's Carousel:
