Planning to spend week of 3/3 - 3/11 in Fairbanks. The site has been very useful about stuff I can do while I wait for the auroras (which I know I might not see), but there only seems to be 3-4 days of activities I can do before I could get bored.
The main purpose is to see the aurora, but its just hard for me to stay in 1 place if I can't be occupied. I was wondering if anybody knew how the drive to Denali would be like? I have never driven in snow but I am careful driver. Can I get by with a rental car that is your typical sedan or should I go for something that has 4 WD? Is there any other extras I would need on my rental car (snow tires?)
I know there are also few ski places near Fairbanks. Do they have ski classes there?
