Planning a short trip to Savannah in late March and wonder what to expect for weather.
Usually very nice, April is beautiful so late march is a very good chance of good weather. Flowers are popping out too as a rule.
From what I remember this past March, a lot of the flowers did bloom early because of the warm weather so you never know where they will be at the end of March but I wouldn't think it would be very cold at all. You may have some cool nights but days should be close to perfect.
Savannah does have a big St. Patrick's Day festival but that's the midde of March. I wanted to let you know in case you didn't know as some people have no idea how big it is in Savannah.
Thank you for reply. Do you have any "must see" advice?
What is the purpose of your trip (vacation?) and what are your interests? Are you a walker or a sitter? Savannah is a fabulous strolling city so you can just show up and walk forever and see something new on every street and square. Do you like history? art? food? It would help to know where your focus might be so we can all offer some suggestions.
The spring tour of homes is March 21-24 in 2013. If you've got a morning or afternoon free, it's a great way to see inside some of the best private residences in the city. Locals will also be giving garden and architecture tours and lectures. For me, the "must sees" are the historic squares and the homes that line them. If you can't get out to Bonaventure cemetery, Colonial Park cemetery in the historic district is interesting and won't take all that long to visit.
Bring a sweater, jeans, shorts and a t-shirt. You really never know in March, sorry.
