Things to See from Charleston to Orlando and back?

We may arrive in Charleston on Sat,early am in mid summer and want to be in Orlando Sun. evening thru at least Wed. am. Have to be back in Charleston the following early Sunday morning. Want to see Universal Studios, Cape Kennedy, Charleston, Savannah, St. Augustine. We're parents with 14 yr old girls. Taking train to/from Charleston then driving from Charleston to Florida. Any recommendations/tips on what to do/see along this route, timing, and how to navigate Univ. Studios and the Harry Potter thing? Thx.

Okeefenoke swamp is worth a visit, as is the Jacksonville zoo.

St Augustine, FL is interesting too.

Cumberland Island National Seashore is a 1 of a kind place just north of the Flaorida border. 1 full day.

I'd stop in Avondale/Riverside area of Jacksonville FL. RIght off I-95 (very convenient). Tons to do, eat, and see. Stop by on a Saturday and see the Riverside Arts Market!

Advice from others has been good. I would add Daytona if you're at all interested in racing. As for Universal, the Wizarding World is a good walk from the entrance. There will probably be a long line in the morning for the Forbidden Journey, but the line does move. You will also be required to place backpacks and purses in a locker. There is no cost for that. You'll get a map when you arrive so use that to find your way around the park.

Get the "Unofficial Guide To Disney" handbook, there may be one that just covers universal by itself by now. Advice for the park:

Get there early, do the MUST DO rides first (3 or 4), skipping the rides right next door and along the way.

Buying the pass that allows you to skip in line ahead of everyone may be worth it to you if it is a crowded day.

Go counterclockwise around the park, most people go clockwise.

Freeze bottled water(s) and carry in a purse or backpack, you will have cold, free water as it melts in the heat.

Pack bandaids for foot blisters, dont wear new shoes, dont wear shoes without socks.

Eat a good breakfast, so that you can limit yourself to one meal/snack in the park (high prices -- McDonalds always has a 2 for $3.00 biscuit special). Better yet, keep a cooler in your car with drinks and sandwiches.

Use a fanny pack to keep your valuables in (wallet in ziplock bag for water rides).

Give your kids their own disposable cameras to take pics of what they want.

Other attractions: Cape Canaveral-NASA, look up Hutcheson Island and see if the sea turtles will be hatching the month you are there. As mentioned, Daytona if you have any regard for Nascar, St Augustine is very rich in history. Cumberland Island GA is rich in wildlife. The ocean and beaches are pretty much the same from Myrtle Beach to Daytona, the water gets bluer from Palm Beach down to the Keys.

Thanks everyone for your advice. We went to Universal Aug 20 after the Orlando kids were in school and it wasn't crowded at all. Got into Forbidden Journey in about 20 minutes and were on twice before 10AM. Lots of fun St. Augustine was great, thanks. We also liked Daytona. Also saw Charleston, Savannah, and Hiltonhead Island. Savannah was the most amazing place we visited, at least for me. One of th most gorgeous places I've ever seen. The historical district is huge and incredibly beautiful and Tybee Island nearby is great. We took a dolphin cruise there (captain derek) and must have seen 100 dolphins. Thanks again.
