Vespa is in Federal Hill, not really close to the Hippodrome.

The immediate area of the Hippodrome doesn't have much to offer in the way of restaurants, other than Maggie Moore's Irish pub.

If you're planning on eating before a show you may want to build in a few minutes time to taxi or drive to the Hippodrome area and plan on eating elsewhere.

Restaurants near the Hippodrome:

-) Maggie Moore's Irish Pub - across the street from the theater (since the show starts at 8pm)... If we get there earlier, the host said it would probably be no problem to seat us. 6:15pm is reasonable for us to make it, and gives us a little over an hour to eat. The food gets decent reviews (except, interestingly, the fish and chips).

-) Shula's Steakhouse at the Sheraton Baltimore (now a Wyndam?), City Center - 101 W. Fayette St. - 3 blocks - gets very good reviews.

(review: baltimore.citysearch.com/review/4959007 )

-) Salsarita's - A chain mexican with margaritas (!) - not fancy but decent food.

(website: http://www.salsaritas.com/ )

-) MemSahib Indian-Lexington Market - Not sure if Lex Mkt is quite walking distance though, but good reviews.

(review: baltimoresun.com/entertainment/…5841837.venue )

-) Lord Baltimore Grill in the Radisson Hotel - 3 blocks away... description reads like a typical hotel restaurant

-) Cafe Promenade in the Marriott Inner Harbor Hotel, 110 S. Eutaw St. - Gets mixed reviews, but 2 blocks away

(review; …metromix.com/restaurants/…content )

-) The Wharf Rat Breweries - 206 W. Pratt St., Again, 3 blocks to the Theatre - No frills place. Review:
