New US Mint Tour to Open Soon

A very significant upgrade to the US Mint tour/exhibit has been completed. It will open to the public July 3rd and is still free.

Gosh, one more thing to try to stuff in to a very busy schedule. Thanks for letting me know! About 25 years ago the Mint was one of the things our daughter enjoyed the most. Her absolute favorite was the Liberty Bell.

Went to the web site, still showing closed. Interesting my dad wanted to tour the one in Denver and they were booked out for two months for tours and you had to prebook. Hope the Philly one is easier as may be in Philly on the 9th of August.

I don't think this one will require pre-book, it seems like more of a walkup, as opposed to the guided ones they used to have. Not sure though.

We toured the mint on July 5th. It is open. It is a self guided tour. Very interesting to see some of the artifacts from when the mint originally opened. The factory was not actually running while we were there. A lot of displays to read but some hands on exibits too.

We went the same day as NC5Travelers. One important item to remember is that they require photo ID from all adults. Or at least that day they did.

None of the other sites we visited required that.

BTW, I didn't have mine with me, but after being scolded by the guard for even leaving home without an ID, he let me through.

Presently I am looking for a few places to see on a day trip over before seeing a Phillies game that night. I already plan on seeing Reading Terminal and figured the Mint is a close walk and might be a nice afternoon visit.

Where is the Mint building, when I tried to mapquest it's address, it couldn't find it.
