Gluten free cheesesteaks?

We are going to Philly for a 3 day trip later this month (lived there many years ago, but now doing a sightseeing trip with family including 3 kids)... One of my kids has celiac so needs gluten free food. Would like to go to a cheesesteak place, wondering if any have gluten free rolls or if the regular cheesesteak (w/o bun) is gluten free - we could even bring a GF bun. The places I know of are Genos, Pats, Jims, and Dellasandros. Anyone know if those have anything GF or are there others that might? thx!

The only one I’m finding is Joe’s.

Campos at 214 Market Street offers gluten free hoagie rolls as one of their bread choices. Plus their sandwiches are pretty good.

"Add Jim’s and Carmin’s"

Is this Jim's Steaks on South Street?

I actually called Jim's and was told "We don't have that", so we generally stay away from that if they don't know or aren't sure.

Campo’s celiac-safe rating on Findmeglutenfree.com is only 75%. Not good enough in my book.

I don’t think my daughter has eaten a cheesesteak since diagnosis, but I’ll ask her.

This is a gluten free bakery on 9th St. On their home page there is a link to establishments that they supply.

Thanks Lynn, for that link.

The issue I would be concerned with is not the roll as much as cross contamination. Most of the hoagie shops are smaller venues and don't have the space for the necessary segregation. For example, its likely they won't have a gluten free designated bread knife (tho if not packed they will certainly clean it on request. Same for a cutting board, but they will put paper down. These are why you typically see ratings in the 75 percent range.

It all depends on how sensitive the person is and the risk tolerance.

Loonbeam, you are absolutely correct, and unfortunately many eateries don’t get it.

Pookala, Taffet’s makes a lovely sourdough loaf.
