Mammoth Skiing Conditions Early March?

Generally, what are the skiing conditions like during the first half of March? Would conditions be relatively good, or is it getting late in the season and snow heavy and slushy? Thanks!

It's at its best. Mammoth skiing gets slushy in June, the mountain often stays open until July. March and April are the best months, in my opinion.

Mammoth is in mid season form in March.

Check out this chart of historical data and see how March is usually the best month.

p.s. sorry....looks like you may have to copy and paste that link...

Usually pretty good! The start of our official springtime conditions. Mammoth is classically well-known for spring skiing, t-shirts and parties on the sundeck. But, it's also been known to snow pretty hard in March too! You need to come prepared for cold, even if you don't think you'll need the cold-weather gear. Better, up here, to have and not need, instead of needing and not having!!
