on the way Tahoe....Death valley? and then where?

Help! (In early June 06) Leaving from Vegas to Tahoe, should we stop in DeathValley? Hot? worth staying overnight?Then still long drive to Tahoe. Where to stop?Tonopah or Scotty's Junction?

I think a stop in Mammoth is a good one. The Drive from Mammoth to Tahoe is really short too. It's only 2 hours from Mammoth to Gardnerville and if you go over Kingsbury Grde that's only about 30 minutes from Gardnerville. If you find yourself weanting to stop in Bishop then add about 40 minutes or so to that.

Just a matter of clarification. The Yosemite snow survey has put this year's snowfall at about 125% of normal so maybe it feels like we've had a light snow year but in fact we have not. I was in Mammoth 2 weeks ago and I can tell you that snow there was tremendous. At that time Mammoth had the deepest base of any snow resort in the US.
