You state 12:30am - do you mean a midnight flight or did you mean in the afternoon? From Ventura with no traffic it is about an hour drive to LAX, with traffic you can double the time. As I am assuming you will be returning a car and checking bags - you'll want to get to the airport 2 hours in advance, so I would leave Ventura no later than 9:00 am (maybe earlier - depending on what type of comfort level you want).

Just to let you know - Ventura is only about 30 minutes south of Santa Barbara, so if you look at the answers from your post regarding SB to LAX driving times, you can use those times less 30 minutes.

I assume you mean 12:30 pm - an afternoon flight?

Avoid the freeways and take the coast down, Pacific Coast Highway. It's exactly 60 minutes to Santa Monica, about 75 minutes to LAX. PCH to the 10 to Lincoln south. You will avoid traffic this way, plus it will be a beautiful drive. Leave Ventura no later than 9:30AM, or 9AM if you have a rental car to return.

ok we do have a rental car to return and the flight is out 12:30 in the afternoon, we originally were going to stay in Santa barbara that night then decided Ventura would get us a little closer to the airport, also thought of camarillo as we have marriot rewards we can use for a hotel at either city(town)

Why not stay at the Marriott in Santa Monica? (20 minutes to the airport)

Yes it's on the coast. It's part of Los Angeles.
