JFK Passport Control Question

At JFK passport control can you approach the desk as a party, ie as a couple if you are travelling in a pair, or must you approach separately? I know it's an odd question, bear with me!

Thanks!

They take one at a time, but they did ask me who I was travelling with, (my wife, who was just behind me).

While I am not sure of the answer, I am sure that there are personnel in the immigration hall, directing you to the proper line and then to the next officer. You can ask them.

If you have small kids they would not approach alone. Not sure if just 2 adults traveling together can - we have always done it separately.
