$20/$50 trick in NYC hotels

Hi everybody

I recently heard about the $20/$50 trick used in Las Vegas to get an upgraded room and I was just wondering if anyone had tried this in the NYC hotels and if it was successful?

If you are talking about trying to bribe your way to a better room--not a NY thing!

You know, the only place I have ever heard of this in the northeast is on this forum!

The title of this thread really had me going.

Perhaps the OP isn't aware that in the US, 'trick' is a term used to describe prostitution....

You really can't get a $25.00 trick in NYC!

$20/$50 trick ...never heard of it. It seems bribing to me.

You can ask at the front desk how much it would be to upgrade to a different category of room. They will give you a price, and it probably will be a better deal than booking ahead.

I have done it a few times when we have felt a little richer on arrival than expected. But it is not a trick/bribe as you are paying the hotel.

The whole Vegas trick/bribe thing is about as sketchy as Vegas itself.
