Really? Delta and Virgin codeshare these days and offer the same service. You could book a virgin flight and fly on delta.

High up and good food do not go hand-in-hand in NYC.

Your best bets are at Columbus Circle. You could do Robert in the Museum of Arts & Design, Asiate in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, or a restaurant in the Time Warner Center:

The views from these Columbus Circle restaurants tend to be nicer during daylight hours, when you can see Central Park.

The River Cafe should reopen soon (it was damaged by last year's hurricane); it is in Brooklyn and has views of the Manhattan skyline:

Also, son't know when your trip is, but the Rainbow Room is supposed to be relaunched next year:

No idea what the food and service will be like, though.

Enjoy!

Marriott Marquis, Times Sq

The View Restaurant

Known more for its View then its food, on the pricey side.

We had a late lunch at Robert, last seating 3pm and the views were amazing. Great service too. The food was hit or miss for me. Example, my husband got the tomato soup (salty and out-of-a-can taste) but loved the grilled cheese. I had the $32 pre-fixe: bland leek soup, decent skirt steak but needed salt and extra chimichurri sauce, and delicious cheesecake. That being said, I still thought it was worth it for the views. I made reservations to get a window seat. Enjoy!

I have a friend who was in NYC last month. His group ate at The View restaurant in the Marriott. He said the food was "horrible."
