Loehmann's is excellent, but I didn't mention it because I agree with QQ2 - not great for "non-shoppers". (Better atmo than Century 21 and Filene's but not as civilized as Bloomies, L&T or Macy's.) if you're in Chelsea anyway, by all means, check it out! My mom found her "mother of the bride" dress there, and everyone was in awe!

Take the N, R or # 4,5,6 trains to 59th and Lex.
Lord and Taylor: 5th AVenue and 38th Street
Take the B, D, F or V trains to 42nd Street and 6th AVenue and walk a few blocks. Or take the N, R, B, D, F or V trains to 34th Street-Herald Square and walk.
Macy*s: 34th St and Broadway
Take the N, R, B, D, F or V trains to 34th Street-Herald Square
Loehmann's: 7th Avenue and 17th Street
Take the #1 to 18th Street
Filene's
1. Union Square - take the N, R or #4,5,6 to 14th Street-Union Square
2. 6th Avenue and 18th Street - take the F or V train to 14th Street and 6th Avenue or take the #1 to 7th Aven and 18th Street.
3. Broadway and 79th Street - take the #1 train to 79th Street and Broadway.
