Steakhouse, brassiere and American cuisine

Suggestions on steakhouse that are good, but won't break the bank. Have eaten at BLT prime, S&W, grammercy tavern, blue water grill, etc. two adults and three 9 yr olds w somewhat sophisticated pallets. Also any other dinner and lunch spot recommendations would be appreciated. We are staying in midtown east, but we are only a can or subway ride away from anywhere.

Under rated steakhouse- Strip House

East Village neighborhood places for lunch-Northern Spy, seafood place corner od 14th St and 2nd Ave, Baohaus, Motorino-excellent pizza with a great luncheon special.

Best food value for lunch-La Marca. Neighborhood joint

DeFonte's Italian sandwiches-eveyrthing is good and big or as we say in Brooklyn sangwitches where they started 80 years ago. I get hungry thinking of the place.

Thanks for all the suggestions. We will be seeing the Rockette's on Friday evening at 7 so probably hitting a late dinner since we will have climbed 27 stories to the top of the crown during the day...not my choice...so any suggestions for that evening's dinner would also be appreciated.

I'm a fan of Brief Encounters on the Upper West Side. For steak, Wolfgang's is better.

Between "brassiere" in the subject, the recommendation for Strip House, and the mention of Brief Encounters...I've totally forgotten what this was supposed to be about...
