Trip Report and a busy day in New York

After arriving late last nite to the Hilton Garden Inn 8th ave, we were up early this am and after having breakfast in a local diner, we a walked down to circle line cruises...lovely warm sunny morning and we got there a little after 9am...very busy but we had already got our tkts with Go Select but we still had to queue up to exchange for actual tkts. We upgraded to Ambassador level which allowed us to board first for our semi circle cruise and also entitled us to snacks/drinks on board up to value of $10..boat was full and we had a great cruise.

We then caught the subway to Brooklyn and walked back across to Manhattan via the Brooklyn bridge, again a great experience and weather was still great....walked to 9/11 memorial which was very busy. we had no tkts but DH and I recall that day very clearly (our children were only young at the time) and our thoughts will always be with those who lost so much...

We then caught subway to Canal st but kids did not care much for it but DD did manage to pick up a 'smurf' IPhone cover. Had a caffine/snack fix in Starbucks before catching subway to 49th st to go to TOTR.. Again had pre booked but it was not to busy and very comfortable crowds with a clear blue sky and warm sun....

Kids then did Lego store and we finished off our day by visiting St Patricks Where mass was being celebrated... Church is covered in scaffolding outside and in but still a beautiful building..

We then walked back towards our hotel via TS with a view to picking up tickets for a show tonight but it was very busy and we were all starting to feel tired

We had a well deserved dinner in an Irish restaurant and enjoyed a glass of wine.. As you can see, we had a very busy but pro active day with lots of photos and wonderful memories..

Tomorrow's plan of action to to head to ESB and then go to Central Park and perhaps take out a boat on the lake???maybe do a little shopping and will try to get Broadway tickets at some stage...

Yay more trip reports! Thank you for posting. So you didn't have ticket time reserved for the 9/11 memorial...is there still something to see when you go there? I too was thinking of going but just not to the extent of the whole memorial. I just would like to see the area and pay respect.

Also, check out O'Reilly's pub/restaurant on 35th between 5th and 6th. Good bar food right near the ESB.
