taxi tip from penn station to Metro pavillion

Is a tip included in the cab fare if not what would be a usual tip from Penn station to Metro pavillion.

Also I had inquired about where to catch a cab and a poster mentioned getting out at 7th Avenue for a cab heading downtown already, are there signs directing to certain areas so we know where to get out. thanks

Tip is not included. For all taxi trips, you tip the driver 15-20% of the fare. It will be a metered fare, so the cost of your planned trip will vary.

Yes, there will be signs in Penn Station directing you to the different exits. In fact, here's a Flickr photo: http://www.flickr.com/photos/13200817@N06/4379183077/

After looking up where the Manhattan Pavilion is, it's about 1 mile from Penn Station 7th Avenue exit at 32nd Street, since your destination is 18th St near 7th Avenue and it's 20 numbered streets to a mile.

You could take the #1 train to 18th Street Station (a 6 minute ride and a maybe 5-minute wait), and pay a mere $2.50.

And every yellow licensed taxi in New York is the same: the meter charges an initial amount, then a certain amount per mile and a certain amount per waiting minute. just like nearly every taxicab in the US, and for that matter, most of the world.

And the tip in the US for a cab should be closer to 20%, not closer to 15%, and most people just round up the tip so the total payment is in dollars, not dollars and cents.

If you don't have luggage and it's a nice day, you could walk to the Metropolitan Pavilion in 20 minutes.

Taxi's are kind of pricy and they all vary.
