What broadway play would appeal to my husband?

My husband and I are going to NYC in May, and one evening we are going to see a broadway play (Friday May 17). While we are going based on my interests, I'd like him to enjoy it as well. He's a kid at heart, and is open to most musicals.

I've been looking at Avenue Q, the Lion King, Wicked, and Mamma Mia... But am open to anything we both might like!

Perhaps give him a gift voucher that you make yourself that gives him the opportunity to choose.

Kid at heart you say? Avenue Q is a good one. It's Sesame Street with swearing and adult humour. Recommended. Converted me to musicals. Also it's off Broadway the tickets are half the price of the others you mention.

Would you consider off Broadway? Silence, The Musical is hysterical and very well done.

I think there are tastes to consider and it all depends on his individual tastes/likes/dislikes. With that said, I don't think you will likely be wrong with either Lion King or Wicked. Another suggestion if you're both into that type of music is Jersey Boys.

Neither Lion King or Wicked are ever discounted if budget is an issue. I think of Mama Mia as a woman's show. Ave Q is good fun but off Broadway in a small theater. When I think of kid at heart, I think Mathew Broderick in Nice Work If You Can Get It. Pippin which hasnt opened yet and Kinky Boots, also notyet open are some other ideas.

We loved "Nice Work if you can Get it".

And I think Matthew Broderick has just announced he's staying with the show till mid June so I reckon that is a great idea....

Book of Mormon funniest play we have ever seen.

Very tough to get tickets.

Worth a try.

Thanks for the responses everyone! I will look into Nice if You Can Get It. Right now avenue Q seems like the front runner.
