I think I recall someone saying that the party at Applebee's is all-ages:

Bear in mind that any party like this will cost a few hundred dollars a person.

Rosie O'Grady's has allowed children in the past and there were positive reviews here on the forum. Also look into Madame Tussaud's and Ripley's.

If you have not made your NYE reservations at a specific location yet, you better get on it! LOL

Check out newyearseve.com for starters and to see how prices run. There are other similar sites. Dave and Busters always has family parties, as do some of the Times Square bowling centers.

Now get those reservations made, or you be out there with 1.5 million other revellers in the cold! LOL

Some cool places to be with the kids are Madame Tussaud's and Dallas BBQ. These are both good choices as they put you directly on 42nd street so you do not have to wait in the cold and allow all ages.

Maybe you can readjust your thinking and get out of Times Square. You have to understand that the area will be incredibly crowded outside. You are confined in pens and movement [and bathrooms] are limited. And, it can be bone crushing cold just standing there. Enough to make an 8 YO verrrry cranky.

There are places that do parties inside. These are essentially chain type restaurants like Applebees where you will be paying dearly for a ten second show and mediocre food.

An alternative is to head to Central Park where there are usually fire works. It should be a much more pleasant way to spend the New Years. You can dine out in fab Park Slope [Brooklyn] and then head up to Prospect Park for fireworks as well. Or, you can take a Fireworks Cruise www.newyorksightseeing.com/tourpage.php…

Thanks guys, yes I will look into these suggestions. We are staying right in Time Square so that hopeful we will always be close to our room, but understand the crowd situation. The hotel we are staying at is one of the closest to the Ball Drop and does host its own party...just wanting to see what our options are before we succumb to the extortionate prices, as dont think we will be attempting to stand outside in the freezing conditions for too long with our children...though for a glimpse of Taylor Swift, they may just be willing to do anything!!
