Well first of all, you cannot get to New York City from JFK -- for the very simple reason that if you are at JFK airport, you are already in New York City.
Let us start at the beginning: when are you coming, where are you going, how long will you be here (because it does not make sense to come all that distance only to fly back the next day), and what is your budget? With that information, we can begin to make suggestions.
We are flying to Ireland in May probably around the 18th. Looks like we would be getting there early afternoon and wouldn't be flying out again Untill 8:00 pm. The next night . Can we get lodging that's in a good location for around $300 ish ?
Yes. Top of the Rock at Rockefeller Center has great views. Try to get there before sunset and watch the city light up. There's a hotel right at Rockefeller Center called the Jewel at Rock Center that might be in budget. If not there will be plenty of options. Don't rush to book something unless you see an absolute steal. The Distrikt is a very nice hotel and will have nice views but you'd have to prepay on booking to get best rate and I think it's much too early.
If you want an overview tour, it sounds like you have plenty of time to do that.
Is one idea.
THANK YOU for the recommendations!!
