Every paycheck we'd go to the Bank of New York to cash them during morning break and stopped in at chock full of nuts for bacon, egg and cheese sandwich..yummy!

When I was little (70's to early 80's), we'd go into the city at Christmas time and have dinner at the Cattleman's. Great memories!

As a kid the popovers were the big appeal to going there (and the clock made out of flowers). Beautiful grounds there back then at Patricia Murphy's.

What happened to the Magic Pan? Also miss the Red Coach Grill :(

I first went to Chock Full ONuts in 1967. Frankly I do not remember what it was famous for or what I ate, but it was the first counter meal I ever had had. Then maybe Woolworths? But never again. I have since " grown up"

chock full of nuts is back, maybe half a dozen stores in new york city featuring of course cream cheese on the sinfully good date nut bread. as for woolworths there is one store that i am aware of using the name, that in nuremberg.

In old age, it is more like Jean George. Counter dining is thing of the past and foolish youth.

Here's a really obscure one, but I do know some people know it: The "frozen custard" stand inside Abraham & Straus Dep't store. Right near the escalators (either basement or 4th floor). Creamy cold confection is long tapered drinking glass, anyone?
