It is on the meter, so time of day will have an impact as the mter runs as you sit in traffic, but maybe $40 with tip

Depends on time of day and method used.

Just today we took a cab from LGA to 9th & 57St (not too far from Times Square area) about 6;30 pm. We took the 58th St. bridge rather than tunnel. The cab driver was good and knew her way around (yes, her way, the driver was a Puerto Rican Grandmother with a felt cocked hat, who owned her own cab, and it was a regulation yellow cab!) and the meter total was $31.

Going out to the airport via cab for an early morning flight is even less, like $27). So it depends on time of day and cleverness of cab driver too.

There are car services that charge a fixed price that's similar to a taxi price.

dial7.com

allstatelimo.com

are 2 of the better ones. They'll ask you to phone when you're ready to leave the airport and tell you where to meet the driver . That way you avoid paying for extras like their parking and wait time. The prices listed don't include toll if any (~$5) and tip (15-20% of the fare). If you're arriving during rush hour, getting a fixed price is a good idea. You should know LGA isn't all that far from Manhattan. I wouldn't bother splashing out for a fancy limo unless it's a special occasion.
