Easter in New York City With Kids

Hi there,

We will be in NYC at Easter Time and wanted some ideas on what to do on Easter Sunday with 2 kids (aged 4 and 7)

Also, we wanted to go somewhere nice for lunch, very family and kid friendly and with great food.

Thanks

Everything is opened ... perhaps church, a meal and the Central Park Zoo?

Are you asking about church, or tourist stuff? The tourist sites should all be open.

Easter is not really a big thing in NYC. The only Easter event would be the "parade" down Fifth Ave in Midtown. And, it is not really a parade with floats and bands and the like, it is just a bunch of people [and their dogs] in funny hats. Could be fun for kids four and seven. Here are some photos from last years parade to give you an idea:

There will be plenty of restaurants open with their regular menu. Some restaurants will have a special brunch on Easter Sunday. Here is a list of restaurants from last year: www.opentable.com/promo.aspx?pid=228&m=8 Where to go will really depend on what is convenient to your plans the rest of the day, or where you are staying. In general, even restaurants that typically don't have families at dinner time will be expecting families (including kids) if they put on an Easter brunch. Of course there are exceptions, but the menu should be a good indicator. It's too early to see it for this year.

With kids that age, you may want to take them on an Easter Egg Hunt. Here's a list from last year. There are options for Saturday and Sunday: mommypoppins.com/ny-kids/a-baker8217s-dozen-…

Absolutely, take them to an egg hunt. That was always my favorite part of Easter when I was small! :)

I agree, don't miss the parade, my kids love it. The poster above describes it well. Make or buy funky matching hats for the family and you will feel like a local.
