Have you looked at the Top Question Section ( upper right side) There are answers to your question there. Do some looking and then come back with more specific questions.

It will also help if you tell us what the kids are interested in and if they are boys or girls.

It seems like all kids love the subway. They can best get there subway kicks at the Transit Museum in Brooklyn Heights. Lots of great old subway cars to roam thru - and a great gift shop to boot. Speaking of museums, the Intrepid is a WII battleship that is berthed in the Hudson. There are fighter planes and a submarine as part of the museum as well.

Another great place to go is Coney Island. It will take an hour to go by subway, but has the New York Aquarium, the Boardwalk and Beach, Nathan's Famous and some great rides as well.

There is "The Beast" a speed boat that plies the waters of the East River, or for more sedate fun there is the free Staten Island Ferry with its Statue of Liberty Views or the Circle Line.

Nice weather, grab a blanket, head to a food store, and go for a picnic in Central Park.

Have you heard? There is an amazing zoo in the Bronx. The Bronx Zoo is one of the best in the country and is a certain kid pleaser. There are also smaller zoos in Central Park and Prospect Park.

I do believe that there are two things that are most important when traveling with kids. First, when they are sick of sightseeing you stop. Schlepping tired kids around is not fun for anyone. Second, if they are internet savvy, make sure that they assist n planning the trip. What do they find that they want to do?

You might want to check out the Sony Wonder Technology Lab where the kids can have hands on experience with technology tools. Admission is free but you must make advanced reservations to ensure admission.

If your kids are interested in seeing the original Winnie The Pooh bear, do drop by the New York Public Library children library section. There is also a charming carousel in Bryant Park behind the library. You can take a look at the pics from my recent visits here:
