Jfk or Lga

Hi ,

Merry Xmas!

We are booking our flights from Dallas to NYC and cant decide which airport to pick...

US airways has flights to JFK for $300 or $200 to LGA.

We are staying at the Hilton Garden Inn and want to organise a shuttle to take us to and from airport. I have looked on the FAQ and cant really find any information about the difference in aiports only about the airtrain in JFK

any information would be great

thanks :)

Firstly, you really don't want to do a shuttle bus. They really don't work in NYC, and you could be in the shuttle for HOURS.

as LGA is $100 cheaper, book that flight, and a car service with a reputable company like Carmel or Dial 7

With Carmel, you can get a $4 discount, and your trip (before toll and tip) from LGA is only $24 (or $28 if you don't do the discount)

I can't see a shuttle saving you any more money, and at least this way, you're getting a private car to yourself.

Hola.

For us it depends on where we will be going after landing (and the price and the duration of the flight). LGA is closer to NYC, and if we are arranging a car service or taking a taxi, it is generally a quicker trip into Manhattan than if we are taking similar services from JFK (into the City). That said, from JFK we usually use the AirTrain-Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) connection into the City or to bring us out to the south shore of Long Island and then the ferry to Fire Island.

That said, for the past 6+ years we have been using New Day car service for our airport and other transportation needs. (We used them today to bring us to Wayne NJ for our annual Christmas dinner with family.) The drivers are always on time and the cars/vans seem to be larger and cleaner, while the rates may even be slightly less than the competition. For additional information see:

Hope this helps. Your questions are always welcome.

Abrazos,

Matt

"we" means at least 2 people so that means at least a $200 savings. Go to LGA and take either a yellow cab or make arrangements for a car service ( Dial 7) As others said, shuttles in NYC stink and while the airtrain is less expensive than a cab/car service, you will still come out ahead if you go to LGA--regardless of where in Manhattan you are ending up.

new day cars do not have a secure server, so do not put in your credit card details into their website as it is not secure, and anyone can intercept the details. Also they are more expensive than other car services mentioned, but if you decide to use them, please don't use their website, but call them.

Hola.

We do not recommend paying any car service in advance and we usually pay cash or use an account voucher upon arrival at our final destination. In any case, for their best rates and discounts call New Day toll free at (800) 228-3265.

Hope this helps. Your questions are always welcome.

I would fly to LGA and then use the bus/subway to the city. Why pay more? If you are elderly or have huge luggage, perhaps, otherwise, buy a Metro Card and save your money!

Great thank you so much LGA it is ! I thought there must be a catch to the difference in price. We are going to use Dial 7 as per the recommendations on the forum.

I'm assuming it's a domestic flight? How far in advance so they want you to check in? If it's two hours, 6AM should be fine; you'll probably have plenty of extra time, but traffic gets worse the later it gets, so you probably dont want to leave much later, even if they only need you there an hour in advance.
