Hotel/B&B Just Outside of New York

Hi,

Does anyone have any suggestions for a hotel/b&b just outside of NYC? We will be driving down through New England and don't really like the idea of driving right into NYC... Looking for somewhere that is easy to get into the downtown by train or subway and in the $100-$150 a night range.

Thanks

Nick

you'll want to look into towns along the Metro-North Railroad in either NY or CT

Are most of these towns nice/safe? I don't know New York too well and am not sure what areas are best to avoid....

sorry, don't know

maybe someone who lives up that way could help

you could try posting in the forums for the other towns like Rye, White Plains, etc

West Palm Beach...

Take a look at the Travel Inn, there are reviews on this site. It's right in Manhattan and yet offers free parking, an amazing thing to find here! I wouldn't worry about driving into the city, you just don't want to use your car while you're here. If you can't find room at the Travel Inn, take a look at the Skyline Hotel, which is a couple of blocks from the theater district, and offers very inexpensive parking, like $10 or $15.

You don't say what time of year you're planning to visit... from now until year-end hotel rates are crazy expensive.

It would be April of next year... and this might be a stupid question... but for a first time visitor how many nights are needed to see most of the touristy stuff? 4?
