Halloween club nights

Hi,

I'm going to be over the Halloween weekend and was wondering what Webster Hall Halloween night or Toshi Halloween Masquerade party is like.

Are they worth going to? Are there better places?

Webster Hall is full of college aged kids partying it up. If that's your scene then you'd like it. It's a big space, but a bit downmarket.

I only tell people to go to Webster Hell if I *really* don't like them... ;-)

It's very frat-boy, bridge-and-tunnel crowd.

Bad drinks, over-zealous security, overpriced.

Halloween, I'd go to:

October 31 - NINA HAGEN BAND ! Avalon club / Old Limelight Avalon New York City

47 West 20th Street Club entrance on 6th Ave. NYNY 10011

or

The Misfits at BB Kings

This is not a club night, but if you really want to have the $ h i t scared out of you, go to the Procession of Ghouls at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. See a silent horror movie accompanied by the massive church organ in the main cathedral hall (lit by candlelight only). Then stick around while creatures jump out from behind the stations of the cross and saints and give you a heart attack.

For some reason, I can't find current info on it.

I believe it is usually not ON Halloween, probably Friday, Oct. 28.

I found this site below, but I KNOW for a fact this event is not $75.00. It might be $12 or something. Maybe more info closer to date?

Found this blurb on St. John the Divine's "special events" page.

Halloween Extravaganza & Procession of Ghouls

Fri. Oct. 28 at 7 PM & 10 PM

Featuring the 1928 classic horror silent film Phantom of the Opera, starring Lon Chaney, this is one of the Cathedral's unique and popular events, an evening of thrills and chills. The film is followed by the frightful pageantry of The Grand Procession of the Ghouls. Staged by Ralph Lee, the Obie Award-winning creator of New York City's Halloween Parade, the Procession is a theatrical tapestry of fabulous puppets, creatures and special effects. A memorable Halloween experience for young and old. Tickets: $15; students and seniors $8.
