help please............

hi folks, im starting to organise our trip to NY and need some help on a few points.

Firstly, we are staying from 5th sep till 13th and wondered what the weather is generaly like this time of the year?

We are looking to possibly go to a Giants or Yankees game but wanted help on seating. At the Yankee stadium what are the best areas to sit? i'v checked the web site but these stadiums are total alien to me! How do I get tickets for the Giants, again iv checked the web page but it doesnt have any facilities to pre book tickets? Is it poss to do this somehow?

We are possibly going to take in a show and wondered what is the best nites to do this? We are staying at the Doubletrees in Times Squ, so I presume we are in the right area for Braodway? Does anyone know of any good cinemas near to the hotel?

My partner is wanting to find music stores who specialise in dance, trance music ( no r&b, hip hop etc) And if possible if anyone knows of any clubs that play this music.

I want to do a S*x and the City tour and Iv seen a few posted but can anyone recomend the best one?

I think that will do for now, but Ill be in touch should there be anything else. thank you all.

The weather should be gorgeous. Warm and sunny in the day and maybe a bit cool at night. Wunderground.com has historic temps.

Go to broadwaybox.com and see if any of the shows you want are available with a discount codes. The best night is the one where seats are available (preferably at a discount) to the show you want!! ;) Fri/Sat are often more expensive than Tues -Thurs. Your hotel is right in the middle of the theater district. YOu could also take your chances and queue for the TKTS booth discount tickets but imo a waste of time. You need cash for that vs credit card for online purchase.

Don't know what trance music is.

There's only one SATC tour to my knowledge and from what I gather if you're a fan of the show, the fun is in meeting other fans as much as the sites.

Vinyl Mania is another good dance music shop on the west side.

http://www.vinylmania.com

& there is also Deca-dance

http://www.decadancerecords.com/

between these two, or the suggestions in the east village, you will have more dance music than you know what to do with.

For the sprts options, you will probably have trouble getting tickets, esp. for the Giants game. The Giants always sells out and many Yankee games do too. So, you won't have the option to choose your best seats. If you do, try near the middle for football and as close as the infield as possible for baseball. Again, the Giants are sold out and the only option you have is the Sept. 11 game at 4:00 against Arizona. You'll have to take the bus out to NJ and scalp a ticket. It will cost a bit.

Good luck and enhoy NYC.

Hi, kezz, and welcome in advance. I'm here to help you with the baseball thing.

Yankee Stadium seating can be comprehensible if you bear this in mind:

1. "Section": It's the first consideration for me when I go to buy tickets. The lower the number, the closer to home plate. Even numbers to the left of the plate, odds to the right. Views of the playing field are not especially good in any section above #30, but you can enjoy the game nonetheless. I know because I have!

2. Yankee Stadium is of a vertical design. The divisions are, from the ground up: Field -> Main -> Loge -> Tier. (I've sat in all of them, but when it's my own money I buy Tier. You can see just fine.)

3. Bleachers: The least expensive "seats", the bleachers are actually aluminum benches. Again, the view is OK because they are so close to the playing field, but:

a) No beer is sold there;

b) The scoreboard cannot be seen because it is behind you; and

c) The music/PA speakers are there. It's like sitting in the front row of a heavy metal concert with your back to the stage.

Hope this helps. One last note: Please do not bring haggis to Yankee Stadium as this may cause your group to be treated as though you're Red Sox fans.

Scots wha' ha'e,

Joe

Right now you're better off being a Red Sox fan than a Yankee fan.

RNnyusa is a kindred spirit.

Perhaps, kezz, some member of your group will be in the "lucky seat" and become the Pitcher Du Jour.
