You can't sit on "Carrie's" stoop anymore. The people who live there got sick of it.

There are a few MAC stores. The one in Soho is great.

I wouldn't bother with Yankee Candles here, but I believe you can get them at most Hallmark card stores.

Manicure? Well, there's a local chain called "Bloomie's Nails" - NO relation to Bloomingdale's department store. It's just the owner's nickname - and it is pretty reliable.

You can buy that extra suitcase/luggage/case you'll need at Century 21. Great prices.

My favorite hot dogs are Gray's Papaya. They have several locations. It's sort of a stand but you go inside a small store and sit on a stool. It's far better (IMO) than any hot dog you get on the street.

There's a Levi's store and a Diesel store right near Bloomingdales on Lexington Ave. They sell MAC in Bloomingdales in several locations but you can also find it in MAC stores and in several other dept. stores.

If you want to do some discount shopping, Union Square is a good spot. There's a Filene's Basment there and also a DSW (for shoes) in the same building and another shoe store called Shoetopia.

Have fun. Get some sleep so you won't get sick when you travel.

I have heard that there is a great store for Levis called Daves?? I have heard they are really cheap & I was hoping to go there when I visit in November. Maybe someone can confirm if it is as good as I've heard.

BTW, the list of OMG stores is on their "contact" page, for some reason. (Not the best website, but good clothes...)

"And I wanna:

Statue of Liberty"

I waited until JFK to buy this for one of my little boys a few years back, and this lady kept telling me (ok she had obviously been to the bar) that I should have bought one in town.

She was perfectly right of course (it was pretty poor value) but I was hardly going to jump into a cab and return to the city at that stage.

The point of mentioning this is that although you'll get most of the typical souvenirs at the airport, they will work out more expensive.

You'll have no problem securing any of these mid town!

Hi Celticgal!

I would go with the previous poster's comments on Yankee Candles, too heavy and there are good stockists in the UK now. This is the one I usually use, you can sign up for a weekly newsletter and they are always running special promotions.

Hope you manage to do everything on your 'list', have a fantastic time, you can sleep when you get back;)
