I would love a designer bag........but.......I can't afford real price and as I've never had anything designer before I wouldn't know what was a good or bad fake........I think I would like a chanel purse or bag or maybe even jewellery which I understand they do....can anyone advise me what I'd need to look for to make it look genuine.....sorry if this is sounds stupid.....
Yes, chinatown is always great. This trip, however, i got my fakes around times square. I know everyone always says you can get a better deal in chinatown, but i came out about even (they were offering the biggest bags for $20- this was later at night more around the outskirts). I got a fake Coach and Burberry. They actually do look close to the real.
Sounds like your wife and I need to go shopping together! lol! My husband came in after me one time because I stayed too long. I guess he was afraid for his $$.
I had a good laugh this morning thinking about all of you guys walking timidly around chinatown waiting to be accosted be a little chinese woman whispering "louis vuitton". LOL!
ljg1006-look at the bags you're interested in online before you go. Look at not only what it looks like, but where the logos are, what the logos look like, what the lining looks like, and what color it is. That's the major things. People where I live don't know fakes from real ones, but in other places they may notice. It's fun to pretend!
I saw some purse vendors in times square also, the day we left. We were waiting on toys r us to open, so it was about 9:45 and a guy dumped out a box of purses beside us. He was there about 10 minutes and the cops ran him off. I would imagine they're around at night too as someone else suggested. have fun hunting!!
Just so you know, although it's illegal to SELL bootleg merch, it's not illegal to buy it. So YOU are not at any risk buying copies of bags that were ugly to start with... ;-P
