I recall something about the Verve being a homeless shelter for women and children now.

And when I do a google search it comes up as "location closed".

Their old website doesn't exist anymore either.

The Verve (RIP) closed over two years ago. I had two pleasant stays there, it is now a women's shelter as noted.

The new Microtel allegedly opening in May is adjacent to it.

I still see their sign from the elevated 7 line, but it was converted to a homeless facility as mentioned.

There are a number or relatively new hotels in the area that will be similarly convenient for subway access.

The Verve was notable for being priced much lower than most of its neighbors during its final year. The nearby Vetiver now stands out as one that often underprices its neighbors. Of course, pricing fluctuates by date and it may vary who has the lowest pricing.

The Verve had a bunch of things going for it. It was one of Choice Hotels' "Ascend Collection," usually priced well, good breakfast, and perhaps most of all its own underground parking garage. I referred several people there that needed parking and they loved it.

Ultimately it's all about the $$. I can only assume that the owner felt that the income from being a shelter was more profitable than being a hotel.

I tried to look for the Verve sign, but it may have been removed or is now hidden by the new buildings.

Yes, those taxpayer dollars are probably pretty tempting https:/…
