There is usually a nice market in Grand Central Station. A couple of others are near Union Square and by the ice skating rink at Bryant Park. A walk down Fifth Ave and Rockefeller Center is a must.

Bryant Park - 42nd St./41st Sts. between 5th & 6th Avenues

Union Square - 14th - 16th Sts. between Park and Broadway/University Place

There is also a holiday market at Columbus Circle (a.k.a. the Southwesternmost (is that a word?) corner of Central Park):
