Parking for the Midway

We would like to visit the U.S.S. Midway sometime in the next few days, but understand that public parking at the Navy Pier has been severely curtailed due to the sailboat races. What are other good options for public parking in the area? Is it feasible to park at Seaport Village and walk to the Midway?

Thanks for any advice!

It is a short easy walk (maybe 5-10 minutes) from Seaport Village to the USS Midway if you cant find parking any closer.

There are many outdoor parking lots throughout downtown.

IF you go TODAY, Sunday then you don't have to put money in meters and so you can park at any meter for free.

Is there a time limit on metered spots on Sundays?

Someone posted awhile back that they parked at Seaport Village and stayed several hours on the Midway and it was very expensive. The key to parking at Seaport Village is that you have to go into a shop and buy something. You'll get 2 hrs for $1.00 if you buy something. Even just a soda and you need to get your ticket stamped by the shop. It's $4.00 an hour after that. So if you park there for 4 hrs and get your ticket stamped it's $8.00 to park + whatever you buy in a shop. So, if you see a parking lot that charges $7.00 - $10.00 to park and they have parking available it might be worth it to just do that.

On Sunday parking is free for however long you park at the meter. Also, the YELLOW painted curbs are free all day as well.

We visited USS Midway yesterday. We drove around forever before just parking at a meter. DH ran out in the middle of our tour and re-fed the meter. It was funny-all the tour guides kept saying they were so happy the races were over and they would get their parking lot back. Apparently their visitors are down 40% since they took over the parking lot. With nowhere to park I guess nobody comes.

A couple of other others:

Park for free at the Coronado Ferry Landing and take the Ferry to Downtown San Diego and you'll be right next to the Midway when you get off the Ferry.

Park at the Old Town Trolley Station parking lot and take the Trolley to the Santa Fe Depot and walk across the street to the Midway.

Park for 3hrs. free at the Horton Plaza Mall, just validate your parking ticket in the meter.

Go on a Sunday and park for free at any meter.

Pay for all day parking at a lot.

Take the trolley etc.

MOST big city downtown areas don't have ANY free parking.

We are lucky to have a few spots.

Yeah, Nurse - Sorry. I've heard that with the America's Cup activities it isn't so easy to just find a place to park. Free meter Sunday or not. Even though it ended on Sunday I'm sure there are still people in town making the parking more difficult.

Apparently it is going to take a week to remove all the tents, etc. MIdway said they get their lot back next week.
