HELP! The Handlery or the Days Inn

Wondering which is the better choice for hotels in the hotel circle between The Handlery & Days Inn.

They are both around the same price. We are three couples travelling with one child (9yrs). We won't have transport so will be relying on buses / trolley to get downtown and to gaslamp, Little Italy etc:. Can you walk to the trolley and shopping mall from either?

Is the Hotel Circle even the best place to stay? Budget wise it seems like it is the only option to remain close to the main attractions but we might consider stretching the budget for the Best Western Bayside Inn if it would be worth it location wise?

We are only in San Diego for three days so want to utilise our time as best we can.

Any thoughts / tips would be welcome.

I like the BW Bayisde loc much better. You at least would have a pretty place to walk along the bay. IF you would consider staying in a place with no pool you might also consider the Balboa Park Inn . It is across from BalboaPark in a residential area .It is a short bus ride to downtown and the youngun would have a place to play in the park.

We stayed at The Handlery once and the Hotel Circle South, Days Inn about 10 times, you can tell which is our favourite. To get to The Trolley is about a 10 minute walk. However there is a bus stop right outside Days Inn and the bus will take you right to the Fashion Valley Transit Centre in just a couple of minutes. This is a major bus interchange which also has a Trolley stop ( and also a very nice shopping area).

Coincidentaly, our son was 9 when we first visited. You will be able to get around quite easily on public transport, just pick up the timetables which are available on most buses. Visited the city six times and have never needed a car. Days Inn will also pick up from the airport / Amtrack and take you to the major attractions for free. Have fun,

George.

Thanks guys.

Have gone with the Days Inn - figure we can spend the money saved at Fashion Valley!

Will post on our experience there.

Looking forward to visiting this exciting city.

You might want to take some of that saved money to Mission Valley Mall , which is just a couple of stops on the Trolley from Fashion Valley. They have a great Nordstom Rack outlet store with excellent reductions - we always shop there for trainers, etc.

Have fun.

George.
