The Black Rose before the night crowd moves in. Kitty Osheas across the street from there. I don't remember how the food is but I am a fan of the history at the Green Dragon. It's a little bar where Paul Revere used to grab a pint with his pals.

How about the historic Warren Tavern in Charlestown? 10 minute from downtown, and you can bang out two or three tourist spots as you go (USS Constitution, Freedom Trail, Bunmker Hill Monument).

On the corner of Pleasant and Main St. in Charlestown.
