Need a budget hotel in Boston for 5th and 6th Oct.

We are two friends in our 50s and need to stay in Boston for two nights before starting a leaf peeping tour. We do not have a car.

It seems we have left it a bit late to book and the more central hotels are booked out.. We are looking at two and a half to three star accommodation..If we have to stay a distance from Downtown, what would be the best area to stay, with good access/transport to historical sights. We will need to go to Logan airport for overnight on 7th. We will arrive 5th Oct. at 7.30pm at the Greyhound terminal.

Try the Oasis Guest House, John Jeffries House and the Copley Inn for central budget hotels that you won't find on the major booking sites. Also take a look at Hotwire. Rates are high in Oct as it is foliage season.

How are you planning to do a leaf peeking tour without a car?

Where are you seeing that everything is booked? There is lots of availability. What is your nightly budget?

For lower end budget properties, look at Hotel Buckminster and The Midtown Hotel. Here's the website for Buckminster. http://www.bostonhotelbuckminster.com/ Actually, The Midtown is looking very pricey for those dates. You could stay at the Omni Parker House for less. So forget about the Midtown.

If you provide your budget, forum members may be able to come up with some reasonable suggestions for you, including hotels convenient to public transit. It's not a question of which areas are convenient to public transit, it's whether the exact location of the hotel is convenient. Hotels near the T tend to be pricey as well.
