A few quick questions for next week's trip

We are staying at The Colonnade. We arrive Wed at 10:00 AM, about what time do you think we would get to the hotel taking the T?

Where is the nearest grocery & liquor stores? We'll need to pick up a few things when we arrive.

Plan to watch the fireworks on the Cambridge side (from the suggestions here). Where exactly should we be on the Cambridge side? About what time would you suggest heading over there to get a decent spot?

Thanks for your help! :)

Generally speaking, food is sold in grocery stores and liquor is sold in liquor stores in Massachusetts. Google those near the Colonnade. Residents of MA might think I am being a wise guy but it's not like Arizona where you can buy hard liquor in virtually any retail shop.

Personally I would just walk down to the river to see the fireworks, not go over to Cambridge.

As you stand on the sidewalk in front of the Collonade facing Huntington Avenue, there is a major Shaw's Supermarket (one of the large supermarket chain's throughout New England) about two blocks to your right. It will be across Huntington Ave from your hotel....

Hard to answer your question about travel time on the "T" because you tell us what time you're getting into town, but not "how" you're getting here. Travel time will be different from South Station (bus and train service) than from Logan Airport, or from North Station if you're taking the Downeaster train service down from Maine....

The Shaw's at the Prudential sells beer and wine. If you want something else, there is Bauer's Wine and Spirits on Newbury Street between Hereford and Mass. Ave.

If you're coming from the airport, I'd plan on about a 45 minute to an hour trip to the hotel. That doesn't include waiting for luggage if you check bags.

The expanse anywhere between the Longfellow and Mass. Ave Bridges would work. Just follow the crowds, they'll show you the way!

There's also a Trader Joes on Boylston St. but the Shaws is closer.

Keep in mind, that this year they are closing the Mass. Ave. Bridge at 4PM.

FYI, this year for the first time, the Mass. Avenue bridge will be closed entirely at 4pm. Usually, it's open for pedestrians and had always been a popular and prime viewing spot for the fireworks. I'm hopeful that this won't be a permanent change, but for this year anyhow, you will need to go to the Longfellow or over to the Cambridge side for your best viewing.

Yes, make sure you read the updated Firework changes, as there's higher security and restrictions as usual.

Shaw's is your best bet, and they are making a lot of changes starting 6/28 so prices will be lower and you don't need a rewards card to get the store promotions. As mentioned, Trader Joe's is on Boylston Street and CVS too.

I would say you'd get too your hotel around 11am, but it all depends on how late you leave Logan and what your transportation is from Logan. Have a good trip!
